Plot[]

Jasmine is the adoptive daughter of a gay couple named Mike and Harry. At school, she is bullied by a boy named Billy who makes fun of her over having two dads and not having a mother that wanted her, which is further fueled by the next week being bring your mom to school day. Mike picks Jasmine up at the end of the school day where she is upset, convinced that Billy is right and that her mom really didn't love her. Mike tells her that isn't true and when she doesn't believe him, he decides to show her a video recorded by Jasmine's birth mother, Maya, that was intended for when she was older.

In the story, Maya goes over the events that led to her giving Jasmine to Mike and Harry: Maya is nine months pregnant while still in high school where she is shamed and made fun of by other students and her teacher for becoming pregnant at such a young age. Maya's mother refuses to have anything to do with her and the baby, kicking her out of the house. Maya then goes to see her boyfriend, Jasmine's biological father, to move in but learns he has been cheating on her with a girl named Stacey and plans to leave Maya to pursue a relationship with Stacey as he's too young to be a dad. The boyfriend suggests for Maya to abort the baby which she goes to a clinic to have done but the nurse, seeing that Maya isn't willingly wanting to have the procedure done, tells her to consider placing her baby up for adoption so that a happy couple who can provide for the baby can help raise it. As a result, Maya says that the reason she gave Jasmine up isn't because she didn't love her but because she wanted her to have the best life possible but that one day, she will see her again.

At school, she humiliates Billy when he tries to make fun of her again on bring your mom to work day and says her dads are the best parents in the world. Mike and Harry call up Maya to finally meet Jasmine for the very first time where she joins Jasmine, Mike and Harry in a game of Candyland.
