PLOT[]

During dinner, Margo excitedly tells her husband, Ken, that she dreams of starting her own company. Instead of supporting her, Ken laughs at the idea and instantly shoots it down. When she asks why, he coldly tells her she could never run a business and begins to belittle her, claiming she doesn’t have what it takes to succeed. Confused and hurt, Margo asks for clarification. Ken doubles down, saying she lacks the “killer instinct” needed in entrepreneurship and insists that her dream would be a complete disaster. When Margo starts to cry, he pretends to apologize but makes things worse by saying her emotional reaction “proves his point” that she isn’t cut out for business. He then questions why she even wants to work at all, telling her she should just stay home, enjoy the luxury she already has, and stop bothering with “silly ideas.” Margo explains that she wants to do something meaningful with her life and knows she’s capable. She reminds Ken that she was the one who helped his company take off — that she brought him his first three clients, who are still his biggest accounts today. Ken brushes this off, claiming it isn’t true, and pressures her to drop the topic entirely, demanding to know what dessert she made him instead. Heartbroken, Margo quietly answers that she made chocolate mousse, then leaves the table in sadness.

The next day, Margo decides to surprise Ken at his workplace. She arrives at his office with a tupperware container of homemade food, hoping to brighten his day. But as soon as she approaches the door, she notices it is slightly open. Curious, she steps closer—only to freeze. Inside, she sees Ken in the middle of an affair with another woman named Vanessa. The sight hits her like a punch. Her eyes fill with tears instantly, and her breath catches in her throat. Quietly—so they don’t hear her—she sets the tupperware down on the floor outside his office. Heartbroken and trembling, Margo turns and walks away in tears.

The next day, Margo visits her friend Jill, the two of them sitting together over cups of tea. Margo breaks down, struggling to understand the audacity of Ken’s actions after fifteen years of marriage. Jill gently comforts her, calling Ken exactly what he is—a jerk. She reminds Margo of everything she has given him, including the fact that she was the one who helped his business take off in the first place. Margo, still crying, admits she has no idea what to do next. Jill tells her plainly that she should sign the divorce papers and leave him for good. But Margo hesitates. Jill urges her to start the business she once dreamed of and build a life free from her soon-to-be ex-husband. Margo insists she can’t because of her financial situation. When Jill asks who told her that, Margo explains that everyone—including Ken—has said the same thing about her. She reminds Jill that she’s over forty and hasn’t held a stable job in a decade. If she walks away, she wonders how she’ll support herself. Through tears, she admits that while Ken may be a cheater, he was right about one thing: she isn’t cut out for business. Jill immediately rejects that idea. She tells Margo that it’s nonsense—Margo is a brilliant, loyal woman who was on her way to building a successful life long before Ken entered the picture. Margo says that was a different time and she’s not the same person anymore. Jill insists that this is exactly what Ken wants her to believe, and that as long as she still believes in herself, nothing can stop her from signing those divorce papers. Margo picks up the pen and almost signs, but freezes, second-guessing her decision. Jill shakes her head and rolls her eyes, frustrated but patient.

Back at home, Margo waits for Ken’s return, sitting at the dinner table with the divorce papers resting on her lap as she contemplates her next steps. When Ken finally walks through the door, she quickly hides the papers. She confronts him about being two hours late. Ken apologizes immediately, claiming he had been stuck at work in a strategy session that went longer than expected. As he talks, Margo notices a kiss mark on his left collar. When she asks about it, he lies and says he spilled lunch on himself. She points out that the mark is on his neck, and he doubles down, insisting it came from red pasta sauce. Growing impatient, he asks why she’s interrogating him. Ken sits down and opens his dinner, but after tasting a carrot, he spits it out and complains that the food is ice cold. Margo explains that this is what happens when he shows up two hours late. Ken then blames her, accusing her of not knowing how to warm food properly and acting as if his tardiness is her fault. Margo tries again to get the truth from him, asking where he really was. Ken becomes defensive, insisting that he was at work earning the living that funds her “comfortable” lifestyle. He accuses her of being paranoid, bringing up her dream of starting a business, and tells her that she should be seeing a therapist. This becomes the final straw. Margo stands her ground and demands a divorce, telling him she is done with his lies and the way he mistreats her. Ken mocks her and asks if she has forgotten where they live. She fires back that she never asked for any of the luxury around her—and she certainly never knew she was married to a cheater. When he acts confused, Margo reveals that she saw him with Vanessa at the office. Instead of denying it, Ken admits it without remorse and questions whether she really thinks leaving him is a smart choice. He warns her that without him she’ll end up a broke divorcee with nowhere to go, and manipulates her by insisting she could never support herself. Margo refuses to accept this. She tells him he’s wrong—she doesn’t need him, and she doesn’t need his money. She vows to start her own company and make it a success. Ken laughs in her face, telling her she’ll lose more money than she’ll ever make because she doesn’t understand the business world. Hearing this is enough. Margo signs the divorce papers right in front of him and throws the pen at him in anger. Ken shouts after her, claiming she’ll come crawling back once her business fails. She ignores him entirely, walks out, and slams the door behind her. Left alone, Ken bitterly tries another bite of the dinner, spits it out in disgust, and continues whining like a spoiled brat.

After leaving her cheating husband Ken, Margo returns to Jill’s house, still emotional from the divorce. Jill comforts her, praising her courage and reassuring her that she did the right thing. Margo worries about her ability to succeed and questions whether her business will work, expressing concern over her lack of savings. Jill encourages her, reminding her of her intelligence, strength, and past potential, and offers to invest the money needed to start the business. Margo is deeply moved and grateful, realizing she now has the support to pursue her dreams. Together, they begin preparing to launch her company, marking the start of Margo’s new, independent chapter.

With Jill’s support, Margo gains the confidence to start her own company. They secure a modest office, and within three months, Margo signs several lucrative clients. Over the next fourteen months, her business thrives and becomes widely recognized in the industry, attracting clients willing to pay top dollar. A few years later, Ken shows up unannounced at Margo’s office, attempting to confront her about a business deal. Despite his rude behavior and denial, Margo calmly informs him that the deal has already closed and that the board approved the merger with her company. Ken protests, but Margo asserts that she followed proper procedures and that he failed to act when it mattered. She then instructs a male employee to escort him out, while Jill observes with satisfaction as Ken fumes and rants, powerless to undo Margo’s success.
