Derek is a recurring character in the Dhar Mann episodes. Being around 11–12 years of age, he is the best friend of Mikey Miller and Jay. Out of the three characters, he is the most mature and level-headed.
Derek is portrayed by Connor William Barrett.
Character Description
Derek attends the same school as his two friends, Mikey and Jay, although he is much more level-headed, mature, and responsible than the other two, having never taken part in their antics such as skipping school or faking an illness.
Derek is constantly shown to be a voice of reason among the trio, being unwilling to take part in the misdeeds of Jay and Mikey. He is shown to have much better self-control and judgement, showing a good understanding of the consequences of misbehavior and dishonesty.
He refused to go along with Mikey's plan of skipping school, although Jay did. Both of them were eventually caught and were banned from playing in the basketball game the following day. However, Derek was able to participate in the game, where he made the winning shot at the buzzer, allowing the team to participate in the playoffs; his two friends were unable to participate as punishment for skipping school and are also banned from playing basketball, video games, electronics or hanging out.
In recent episodes, Jay is shown to have become a much more mature character, bearing much resemblance to Derek. However, Mikey continues to behave poorly, earning him the disapproval and criticism of both Jay and Derek. They criticize Mikey for pretending to be a skilled Minecraft player on Twitch, when in fact it was his younger brother, Jayden, who was playing. They also disapprove of the fact that Mikey is utterly unwilling to give any credit nor money to his brother for his role. Both of them show disapproval towards Mikey's decision to pull the fire alarm to get out of taking a pop quiz, understanding that life is not simply about going to amusement parks and skipping tests. In the Dhar Mann Universe, he is now rich because of earning 1 million dollars in the Kids Cheat MRBEAST For $1 MILLION, They Instantly Regret It Dhar Mann episode.
Trivia

- The original Derek came back in Kid WON'T LISTEN To His MOTHER, He Instantly Regrets It.
- Derek did not appear in the Jay and Mikey series. However, Jay and Mikey moved for middle school and his only appearance following was in the episode Kid WON'T LISTEN To His MOTHER, He Instantly Regrets It where he might be visiting Jay for the weekend.
