Ella --after defending another student from a bully girl (named Stacey)-- is intelligent and --despite still being in eighth grade-- moves up to high grade (which is ninth grade). (That is, on the grounds of having straight "A's" in both first and second trimesters.) So her principal (Principal Stevens) rewards her with a visit to a high school for ninth grade. But her father doesn't want her to process faster. (That is, as this is the middle of her eighth grade year.) Her father wants Ella to be a kid. As a result, he states that Ella must not be rewarded this early by the principal. (That is, even though she has had straight "A's" on all three trimesters.)
PLOT[]
Ella is now in eighth grade. The scene first opens to Ella. And she is seen talking to two other girls (played by Gia Glenn and Amiyah Cox) and one boy student. (She --Ella-- is constructing a Lego project.) They (Ella and her friends) are talking about the Lego contest. (One of the girls says to Ella, "That is incredible Ella. You are going to win the school competition for sure!". The other says, "Not just the school. But you should also enter the state competition coming up!".) Just then a bully girl (named Stacey) appears. And she comes out of a nearby restroom (the girls's room). (This is Stacey, played by Olivia Rand.)
The viewers then see the bully girl Stacey. As she comes out of the girls's room and enters the school cafeteria, she approaches Ella and her group. And she comes to see Ella. (When she overhears Ella's conversation, she --Stacey-- says, "It is whatever!".) Ella and the two other girls try their best to ignore Stacey. (One of the girls says to Ella, "So don't let Stacey get to you!".)
Ella (at lunch) fights with Stacey. That is, when she sees Stacey making fun of a boy student named Peter (who has a now-completed Lego project). (Stacey --who overhears Ella and her friends, and now Peter too-- says to both Ella and Peter, "IT IS WHATEVER!". And she bullies Peter.) When Peter passes with his Lego project, Stacey sees him. She lets out her foot, picks on Peter, and makes him (Peter) fall. (That is, causing Peter to ruin his Lego project.) Ella was trying to save Peter (who accidentally dropped his Lego project after Stacey made him fall). After Ella saves Peter, she turns to Stacey and says that it wasn't nice. (That is, as Ella says to Stacey, "That was not nice, Stacey!".) And Stacey asks Ella what she (Ella) should do about it. (That is, as Stacey turns to Ella and asks Ella, "OH YEAH!? Well, what are you going to do about it?!".)
Well, Ella stands up for Peter. (Ella tries to save Peter from this bully. And --turning to Stacey-- she stands right up to Stacey.) Ella faces Stacey and says to her (Stacey), that she (Ella) would love to have a battle of wits with her (Stacey). But then she --Ella-- reveals it would not be fair and says it is obvious that she --Stacey-- is unarmed (that is, meaning that she'd be sent to the principal's office --if she does fight-- and may lose going to the state competition). (Ella says to Stacey, "I would love to have a battle of wits with you! But it would not be fair! It is obvious that you are unarmed!".) That is what Ella says, before starting the fight. Stacey --in response (and turning to Ella)-- says to Ella that she declares instead of hurting Peter, she would --much rather-- hurt her (Ella) and says she (Ella) is going to pay. (That is, as she says to Ella, "YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT, ELLA!".) As a result, she --Stacey-- makes Ella her next victim after already hurting Peter (by making him fall and ruin his Lego project). (She --Stacey-- says Ella and the other girls --which she is hanging out with-- are all going to be her next targets.)
So Stacey charges at Ella. Stacey throws a hard right punch. But Ella dodges and hits Stacey's square. Then she --Ella-- takes out her school book and hits Stacey (and pelts her) on the nostrils with her book. This causes Stacey to fall on her rear. (Ella breaks Stacey's nose --on her throw from her school book-- causing Stacey's nose to bleed.) Then that quickly, Stacey finds herself --sitting on the ground-- with a bloody (and broken) nose. And almost that quickly, one of the lunch staff --from offscreen-- tells the principal Mrs. Stevens (Principal Stevens). Pretty soon, the principal Mrs. Stevens (played by Aneela Qureshi) enters the cafeteria. And --coming towards both Ella and Stacey fast-- Mrs. Stevens approaches the two girls (Ella and Stacey) who were fighting. And she confronts them and wants to know what was going on. (That is, as she --Mrs. Stevens-- asks the kids --Stacey and her friends-- and the bully Stacey, "What is going on in here?!".) Then, Mrs. Stevens makes both Stacey and Ella come to her office.
Ella and Stacey end up in the principal's office for fighting. (That is, and being an instigator.) But before making Ella and Stacey see her in her office, Mrs. Stevens talks to Stacey and asks her who broke her nose. (That is, as the principal --turning to Stacey-- asks Stacey, "Who did this to you, Stacey?!".) Hurt from the pain, Stacey (wordlessly, because her nose is broken) points at Ella. (Stacey --in pain because her nostrils hurt from Ella hitting her there-- did not say anything because she was crying.) That is, as if to say Ella hit her. Both Stacey and Ella end up in the principal's office. (That is, which occurs after Stacey tells the principal who hit her.) And they both end up sitting on the principal's discipline bench. (From offscreen --despite not being heard-- Stacey stated to Ella that if her principal called in and told her mom and dad about this she wouldn't be able to sit down for a long time. That is, which takes place in the scene where Ella and Stacey are in the principal's office for the fight.)
The viewers (in the next scene) see Ella at the principal's office. (At the same time, Ella's dad is also contacted.) When she --Ella-- and her dad are in the principal's office (and before the principal calls in her dad), Mrs. Stevens is in her office with Stacey, Stacey's mom, Stacey's teachers, and the lunch staff. And she tells Stacey's mom, teachers, and the lunch staff what happened in the lunch room. (Security footage --from the incident at the school cafeteria-- was --offscreen-- revealed.) One of the other lunch staff --as well as Stacey's teachers-- they tell the principal that Stacey made Peter fall (and ruin his Lego project). They also say to Mrs. Stevens that Ella was trying to protect/save the student (Peter) from this bully (Stacey). And so, Mrs. Stevens gets that fact (Ella was trying to defend another student --named Peter-- by standing up for the bully Stacey). That is, even though Ella was fighting. As a result, she gets that. So she decides about Ella and Stacey's fates. She lets Ella off with a warning. As for Stacey, she did not get grounded by her parents. But in the spite of that, she (Stacey) was forced to eat in lunch detention for a week and was ordered to visit the school psychologist for quite a while.
Despite the fact that the principal let Ella off with a warning (for Ella's status), Ella's principal and period class teachers do no further investigation that she was fighting. As a result, this allows Ella to escape trouble. Before the conference with Ella, her dad, and her principal, the viewers then see Stacey. (Stacey --despite being offscreen-- her conference involved the principal, her teachers, and one of the lunch staff. Despite everyone --including the principal, Stacey's period class teachers, and the lunch staff-- all getting what Ella did to her --at lunch in the school cafeteria-- Stacey got in trouble for fighting. While she was not grounded at home, she --at school-- was forced to eat in lunch detention for a week and was ordered to visit the school psychologist for quite a while.) After her mom is contacted about her injury (caused by Ella), Stacey is gone for the remainder of the episode. Before that --Stacey's disappearance for the remainder of the episode-- the viewers see her --Stacey-- coming out of the principal's office --still with a broken and bloody nose from the fight with Ella-- and walks away with her mom (though she briefly glares at Ella and cries --in pain-- bitterly).
Continuing the "remainder of Stacey's appearance" subject, the viewers see Stacey. (Ella's principal and teachers all contacted and notified Stacey's mom about the incident.) Before Stacey is gone, she briefly sees Ella (bitterly in tears). Stacey ends up ice packing her nose (as the viewers see her walking out of the office with a tissue --for the nasal blood-- and an ice pack on her nose) and getting picked up by her mom. (And she --possibly-- gets hospitalized from the accident.) She (with the ice pack on and bitterly crying) walks away silently with her mom. The scene is now at Stacey --with a broken nose-- then it (the scene) cuts back to Ella at the principal's office. (Stacey is gone for the remainder of the episode.)
In the meantime, before the principal calls Ella and her dad in, Ella's dad remains wordless. When Stacey (with her mom) pass him, Ella's dad wordlessly stares at them. Then he turns back to her daughter. After Mrs. Stevens has Stacey taken care of, she turns to Ella's dad. And she says to him that he and his daughter can come in. (That is, as she says, "You can come in now, Mr. Diaz".)
For Ella, Mrs. Stevens tells Ella's dad how great Ella was for defending a student from a bully. (That is, even though Ella was given a warning. The principal Mrs. Stevens got the fact --from one of the other staff at the school cafeteria-- that Ella was trying to defend another student after the bully --Stacey-- made him ruin his Lego project. And that is why she was fighting and with Stacey. So she let Ella off with a warning.) Mrs. Stevens continues that after reviewing the camera footage --of the incident-- and talking to several staff and students (along with one of the other school cafeteria staff) it was clearly self defense. (That is, since Ella was trying to protect/defend/save a boy --named Peter-- from being bullied by the bully girl Stacey.) Stacey --on the other hand-- was bullying other students (like Peter), despite the fact that Ella hit her.
Mr. Diaz asks the principal why she called him in. And the principal says she wants to talk to him about Ella's academic performance. Then regarding about her report card grades (from the previous two trimesters --and now it is the end of second trimester) reveals that Ella has gotten an "A+" in every subject. (That is, including art, math, science, history, language arts, and physical education.) Mrs. Stevens had crossed paths with Ella's teachers. And all of Ella's teachers told the principal that Ella was getting an "A+" in all her classes. (That is, as Mrs. Stevens --going through Ella's subjects for this trimester-- says to Ella's dad, "'A+', 'A+', 'A+', 'A+', 'A+', and 'A+'".) So she --the principal-- rewards Ella with a visit to a high school for ninth grade (the next year). (The high school is known as "Bookside Gifted and Talented Program".) That is, for having a 4.0 GPA on her report card (from both first and second trimesters). She (Mrs. Stevens) says to Mr. Diaz, "That is, which is why I think she should be put into a school for the gifted and talented". (The scene shown in the principal's office most likely takes place during the first day of third trimester at Ella's middle school.) Ella (because she has been getting straight "A's") is on her way of joining her 8th grade friends at high school. (Ella has been getting good grades and she --truly-- has not been cheating.)
Mr. Diaz refuses both Ella's 9th grade visits and Lego contest. And he (after refusing those two rewards --rewarded to Ella by the principal Mrs. Stevens) still focuses with Stacey's injury. (Mr. Diaz, he says to Principal Stevens, "Please extend my apologies to Stacey's mom once again!".) That is, even though he also believes that Ella hit her (Stacey) from trying to defend a boy student after she (Stacey) tripped him and made him ruin his Lego project.
Meanwhile, Ella --during her visit to Bookside Gifted and Talented Program (for ninth grade)-- is introduced to one of the high school teachers (in Bookside Gifted and Talented Program). (That is, even though Mr. Diaz asked Principal Stevens not to do it. Because Mr. Diaz knew that Ella was still in middle school.) The new teacher (at Ella's high school for next year), her name is Mrs. Stewart. And she (Mrs. Stewart) is a period class teacher and teaches math.

Trivia[]
- Technically, eighth grade students do visit high school. But only in late May.
- As a result, Ella's dad technically could be right. (That is, as he states that Ella should not process faster and be just a kid. That is, unless he means that the principal must postpone that to mid or late May.) He may mean that Ella could visit this high school in late May. The "report card" scene takes place in March (and at the end of second trimester).
- However, the principal obviously would have stated to Ella's dad that she scheduled Ella's visit to high school now. That is, in March instead.
- Even though third trimester has not happened yet, the principal (along with Ella's teachers) would have scheduled this early. It was assigned to Ella early.
- However, the principal obviously would have stated to Ella's dad that she scheduled Ella's visit to high school now. That is, in March instead.

- As for Stacey's status --despite the fact she (Stacey) only appears in the special's teaser and opening (the scene where she suffers a broken and bloody nose after a fight with Ella who was trying to defend Peter after Stacey made Peter trip and --accidentally-- ruin his Lego sculpture)-- it (despite being not heard) is possible that when Stacey got back to school, she would be doing her both her lunch detention and customer service weeks. (That is, when back from the hospital.) Because she (despite getting hurt by Ella) still did something wrong. (That is, for bullying and fighting.) In other words, "She was still in trouble. And she still fought with another student".
- So since Stacey did not have time to do her lunch detention and customer service weeks (as she was in the hospital for a week), she would end up doing it on the week she was back from the hospital and back at school.
- And by extension, Stacey (according to her mother) really should not be hanging out with those girls. (That is, the girls from the beginning of the episode --including Ella.) And from now on, she is never again to see those friends.
- Ella (on the other hand) strangely got away with it. That is, for trying to defend Peter from Stacey (the said bully girl).
- So since Stacey did not have time to do her lunch detention and customer service weeks (as she was in the hospital for a week), she would end up doing it on the week she was back from the hospital and back at school.
