Plot[]

The episode opens to Ms. Michaels. (The episode also stars a sixth grader named Annie. That is, who has two rivals Maura and Gigi. Maura is in sixth grade --the same grade as Annie-- and Gigi --Maura's younger sister-- is in fifth grade.) And by extension, the episode it takes place during Annie's math class (in middle school). Sixth grader Annie is a straight "A" student, indeed. But she bites off more than she can chew. And she thinks Maura is dumb (and tries to bring her --Maura's-- grades down).

As repeated, the episode takes place at the beginning of Annie's math class. Before the lesson (for math) starts, Ms. Michaels starts the class off with a few math problems. The first morning math problem is a story problem.

Ms. Michaels asks a question about a fraction problem (through a story problem). (She asks the students, "If each slice of pizza costs $1.20, how much does the entire pizza cost if there are 4 slices?".) Maura --who knows this problem (from the story problem) is a multiplication or division problem-- takes out a calculator and tries doing this problem --$1.20 x 4-- with it (her calculator). (That is, unaware that her calculator is broken and gives her the incorrect answers to math problems.) After she gets this answer on the calculator, she gets $5, and says "$5" to the answer of the story problem. (That is, as she says, "It's $5?".)

Maura incorrectly answers $5 (because that is the answer she got when she tried this math problem on her calculator). Ms. Michaels says Maura is close on that one. (That is, as she says, "You are close".) Then she starts up saying what the correct answer is. (That is, as she says, "The correct answer is...!".) But Annie takes Maura’s turn. (Annie says, "$4.80!".) And she (Annie) insults Maura and asks her if she (Maura) thinks she must be her team mate in the math bowl. (That is, as she --Annie-- says to Maura, "That is so easy! How did you not get that?! AND YOU THINK YOU SHOULD BE ON MY TEAM IN THE MATH BOWL?!".) The second morning math problem is an actual problem. Ms. Michaels's asks if any of her class can answer what 16 plus 21 is. And again, Annie takes Maura’s turn. (Annie says, "It's 37!".)

Regarding with the trophy for the math bowl, Annie says that because she is a genius Ms. Michaels and the other teacher (Ms. Donovan) might as well hand her the trophy for the math bowl. (That is, if she wins.) Ms. Michaels corrects her. (That is, as Ms. Michaels says to Annie, "First off please. Remember to raise your hand. Second, you know each teacher --in your period classes-- should submit three students. So you would be sharing that trophy". What she --Ms. Michaels-- means by that is even if Annie and her team does win, Annie would be sharing that trophy.)

On the same day, the viewers see Ms. Michaels. And she is having a meeting with Annie's mom Debbie (played by Toni Torres). At the end of the meeting Debbie (Annie's mom) says to Ms. Michaels says that this meeting is a waste of her time. (That is, as she --Debbie-- says to Ms. Michaels, "I am sorry! But this meeting is a waste of my time! Just like being in your class, it is a waste of Annie's time! Have a good day!".)

The next day Annie approaches the two girls (Maura and --her younger sister-- Gigi). And Maura is helping her little sister Gigi make invitations for her (Gigi's) birthday party. Ms. Michaels smiles when the two sisters (Maura and Gigi) approach her. But when Annie approaches her, she (Ms. Michaels) looks at Annie in a concerned expression. (That is, hoping that Annie is going to change her attitude.)

The viewers then see the scene pan to Ms. Michaels's math class. Ms. Michaels changes the desks. And she has Annie's desk be next to Maura. Now her (Annie's) desk neighbor is Maura. A mock math quiz begins. Annie does her own math quiz and gets all her math problems correct (without cheating).

After the quiz is over, instead of the teacher (Ms. Michaels) correcting the math tests, she has the students "switch quizzes with their neighbors". (That is, as she says, "Switch quizzes with your neighbors and pick up your red pens".) Like the rest of the class, Annie does "switch quizzes". (The "test correction" has all the students paired. And Annie finds out that she is paired with her "rival" Maura. That is, as Mrs. Michaels pairs her --Annie-- with Maura.) And she switches with Maura. (Annie turns to Maura. Then she says to her --Maura-- "Don't bother checking mine! I already know that I got 100 percent of the problems right! And I did it without cheating!". Annie --indeed-- "got 100 percent of the problems right" and "did not cheat".)

Ms. Michaels tells each of the class what the correct answer is. But Annie gets disappointed when Maura got most of the quiz wrong. (That is, as she says to Maura, "MAURA?! IS YOUR BRAIN BROKEN!? YOU GOT MOST OF YOUR ANSWERS ON YOUR QUIZ WRONG!".) She (Annie) tries to bring Maura's grades down. (Gigi --Maura's litle sister-- says to Annie, "You do not have to be so rude!". Annie turns to Gigi and she --Annie-- says, "I am not being rude! I am being honest! IT IS NOT MY FAULT THAT MAURA IS DUMB!".)

The final straw comes when Annie throws Maura's math quiz into the trash. (Before that, Annie says to Maura, "IF THE SHOE FITS, WEAR IT! THESE MATH PROBLEMS ARE SO SIMPLE! THIS IS NOT WORTH GIVING IT BACK TO YOU!". Then she throws Maura's test packet in the trash. Maura snaps, "WHAT THE HECK!?". And Annie says, "I AM PUTTING YOUR MATH TEST WHERE IT BELONGS! IN THE TRASH!".) Then Annie gets Maura's grades down and hopes she --Maura-- gets a "D" (not only in math, and the math bowl, but also in every subject except for gym). That is, after she (Annie) crumples up Maura's math quiz and tosses it into the trash. Then Ms. Michaels sends Annie to the principal's office. (That is, as Ms. Michaels says to Annie, "THAT IS ENOUGH! PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE NOW!".) But Annie does not care. (That is, as she says, "WHATEVER! IT BEATS ME IN THE CLASS!".)

Well, Annie is in the principal's office. And Mrs. Michaels "re-partners" Maura with somebody else. The math class (which possibly takes place during third period) continues until the viewers see the scene in lunch. Maura --offscreen-- marks (her neighbor) Annie a "C" instead of an "A" on her math quiz. (That is, for saying that she --Maura-- was dumb, just because she got most of her quiz wrong.) That is, after Mrs. Michaels asks Maura to mark Annie a "C" or "D" on her math quiz (despite the fact that she got her answers correct --on her quiz-- without cheating). (That is, while Annie is in the principal's office and --then-- eating in lunch detention.)

So Annie is in the principal's office, and now eating in lunch detention. While Annie --from offscreen-- is in the principal's office --and now, lunch detention-- Ms. Michaels has a meeting with the other teacher (Ms. Donovan). (That is, during lunchtime.) Ms. Michaels reveals that Debbie (Annie's mother) is no help. (As for Annie's status, she is eating in lunch detention.)

Now the viewers see Ms. Michaels and Ms. Donovan (the other teacher) further discussing the situation. (That is, which takes place during 1st Lunch.) After continuously harming her students's learning experiences --and saying that Maura is dumb (even though she --Maura-- got most of the math quiz wrong)-- the teacher (Ms. Michaels), the other teacher (Ms. Donovan), the principal, and Annie’s mother (Debbie) find a way to give Annie a taste of her own medicine. (That is, if Annie thinks that Maura is dumb.)

Before back to math, Annie sees Maura and Gigi (Maura's little sister) again. When Maura shows Annie her (Annie's) math quiz that she (Annie) got a "C", Annie gasps at it. (That is, and Gigi makes fun of that. After Annie gasps, she says --in a shocked tone-- "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!".) And Annie, she says that if her mom finds out that her math quiz was a "C" or "D", she (her mom) would kill her and she's literally dead. (That is, if her mom finds out it's not an "A".) And Maura says, "WELL YOU THINK THAT I AM DUMB!". That is, and she (Maura) says that Ms. Michaels told her (Maura) to mark her (Annie) a "C". (That is, which happens offscreen.) But this is only the beginning of Annie's revenge, defeat, and downfall.

Mrs. Donovan hears that a new student is coming to Mrs. Michaels's math class. His name is Malic. Mrs. Michaels listens to Mrs. Donovan's suggestion about the revenge on Annie. (That is, to make Malic do this to Annie.) And then she reveals it is going to happen tomorrow (the next day) and the next day when Annie comes back to math. (So Annie's punishment --decided by Ms. Michaels, Ms. Donovan, and the principal-- is that in addition to the fact that her neighbor --Maura-- should mark Annie a "C" on her math quiz --from the mock math quiz the day before-- she --Annie-- should get a taste of her own medicine by another student. That is, so it can make her stupid if she --Annie-- thinks that Maura is dumb. And last but not least, the principal says that Annie is getting "C's" and "D's" --except for gym-- despite her perfect scores on her quizzes --without cheating-- and properly doing her homework and turning it in on time. She only has an "A" in every subject because she is doing the reading, doing her homework, turning in her homework on time, and passing her quizzes. That is, without cheating. But her "C"s" and "D's" are for her insults on other students, especially Maura and Gigi. And the principal, she says that if she --Annie-- doesn't shape up her behavior and doesn't pick up her grades on her subjects --and at least math-- and her attitude to at least a "B", she --after her year of eighth grade-- might need to take eighth grade twice and/or do summer school for the summer. Mrs. Michaels includes the fact to the other teacher --Ms. Donovan-- and the principal that she --Mrs. Michaels-- already had told Maura to give Annie a "C" on her mock math test. That is, which was for saying Maura was dumb because she got most of her quiz wrong, destroying Maura's test, and throwing it in the trash.)

The scene then takes place the next day where Annie gets back to third period (which is math). (From offscreen, Annie found out that her mock math quiz was marked as "C" --given to her by Maura.) The new student is a boy. His name is Malic. And --since Annie thinks Maura is dumb-- he (Malic) is assigned to make Annie stupid and harm her learning experience. (That is, and by extension, bring Annie's grades down.) The winner --who beats Annie's record-- gets a candy from the candy jar (explained by Mrs. Michaels). Malic beats Annie's record. And so, he is the student to get candy. (In fact, everyone --not just Malic-- beats Annie's record. So everyone gets a candy from the candy jar, except Annie.) Then the other students (except Annie) cheer him on for beating Annie's record.

The incidents of Malic beating Annie on the multiplication quiz --despite the fact she (Annie) got all the math problems (on the test) correct-- and the mock math bowl, and (now) finally Annie not winning the real math bowl, hurts Annie's feelings. (Indeed, Annie is hurt.) But the incident, it makes her (Annie) understand how Maura must have felt. (That is, after the mock math quiz incident where Annie said to her --Maura-- that she --Maura-- got all her questions wrong, said that she --Maura-- deserved it, destroyed her --Maura's-- quiz, and threw it --her quiz-- into the trash.) In the spite of that, Annie learns to morality. (That is, which is, "Life is not about winning or losing. The journey is just as important as the destination".) Even though Annie did not win, Mrs. Michaels --from offscreen-- decides that Annie's grade (due to her excellent score on her last test, plus the math bowl) it should be a "B". And indeed, Annie did not cheat in the math bowl. (And Annie deserves to graduate middle school --after eighth grade-- and go to high school with her friends including Maura and Malic.)

Annie still got in trouble for her incident with Maura (the previous two days in math). But her grade in math (this trimester) was still a "B". (She also picks up her attitude to a "B".) At the end of the episode, Maura and --her sister-- Gigi (who have been making invitations to school friends for Gigi's birthday party and --in June-- her graduation party) invite Annie over to Gigi's birthday and graduation parties. That is, which Annie gladly accepts. (In the end, all the girls --Annie, Maura, and Gigi-- and Malic all get an "A" on their report cards this trimester. And --after continuing to get good grades for all three trimesters in grades 6, 7, and 8-- they --Annie and her friends Maura and Malic-- eventually graduate eighth grade and make it to high school.)
