Synopsis[]
Because of his and Blake's parents' differences, Jayden doesn't get invited to his birthday party.
Plot[]
The video starts with Jayden’s mom, Cathy waiting for him at school and sees kids walking by and they tell her they are excited to see Jayden at Blake’s birthday party. Jayden comes and gets in the car and when Cathy asks him about Blake’s party, he said he didn’t get invited, which surprises Cathy because Jayden and Blake and best friends. When Cathy confronts Blake’s mom, Brenda about Jayden not getting invited and thinking it was a mistake, but Brenda says it is not a mistake and Jayden is not invited and leaves.
The two are at the table eating dinner and Cathy gives Jayden some ideas about celebrating Halloween such as universal studios horror nights or watching horror movies, but Jayden says no to both and pushes his dinner away and asks to do his homework in his room. Cathy asks him if there was anything that happened between him and Blake, but Jayden doesn’t know because him and Blake hang out at school and doesn’t want to hang out with him after school, and Jayden gets sad because nobody in school wants to hang out with him and asks to go to his room again, which Cathy allows him and Jayden leaves.
At the parking lot, Cathy sees some friends and tells her about the incident about Jayden not being invited and the friends get confused because they see thought that Jayden and Blake are great friends. At Blake’s party, Brenda is setting things up when the planner gets a Minecraft piñata, even though the theme is Roblox. Blake comes and tries to scare her, but fails and he asks her if Jayden is coming, but Brenda lies saying that she asked Cathy, but she said no and says that Jayden doesn’t want to come and tells him to forget about him. When Brenda checks the rsvp, she sees that 3 people changed their status.
At the store, Cathy sees another friend, Brian, who is looking for a present for Blake last minute and asks Kathy if she is going to the party, but she says no and her and Jayden are having movie night in the backyard and is getting candy. Brian gets confused because he sees that Blake and Jayden are very close, but Kathy starts to recite that the problem is Brenda and not the kids. She starts recapping on when Jayden was a great kid in school, he just didn’t have a good time making friends, but when Blake transferred to his school, he was so happy to finally have a friend and as time went on, they played more and wanted to hang out all the time and Brenda was fine with it, but when Kathy sees that Brenda is suddenly keeping Blake away from Jayden after school, she gets more sad. Brian feels sorry for her and considers not going to the party, but Kathy insists he goes and has fun. When Brian goes to put the gift back, Brenda comes up to him and tells him that Blake already has the toy, but Brian says he was putting it back and tells Brenda that something came up and he and Jamie are not able to attend, but wishes Blake happy birthday, which shocks and confuses Brenda, but when she sees Kathy, she gets angry and confronts Kathy about what happened. Brenda thinks that Kathy is the reason people are canceling on her but Kathy says she didn’t and tried to tell Brian to go anyway. Brenda tells Kathy if she were in her shoes, she would do the same thing, to which Kathy asks why this started in the first place and Brenda starts to say that it has nothing to do with Kathy and everything about Jayden and starts to recap why. She was happy when Blake was making friends, but she sees that Jayden is being extra competitive with Blake, which makes Blake upset. All of the things she sees Blake do, Jayden always does better than Blake, and starts to see that Blake getting hurt but doesn’t anything. The last straw for her was the academic bowl at school when Jayden got all of the attention and Blake didn’t get any, she knew that that she couldn’t allow Blake and Jayden to hang out anymore. Kathy is sorry for her but wishes Brenda told her earlier but tells her that Jayden wouldn’t do anything to hurt Blake, but Brenda still doesn’t allow Jayden to hang out with Blake. Kathy starts to say that parents differences shouldn’t affect kids relationships and stop them from being friends, but Brenda still says that Jayden always beats Blake at everything they do and makes Blake feel bad about himself and is putting a stop to their friendship and gets a call and before she answers it, she says to Kathy that Blake is finally better at something than Jayden, and that is making friends and leaves to answer the phone.
At Blake’s party, Brenda offers him to open a present, but he says no and wants to wait for guests to arrive, but when she checks that invitation lists, she sees that everybody is late. At Kathy’s house, she starts giving Jayden some movie options or reading scary books, but Jayden says she can decide and when Kathy offers candy to him, he says no, and when Kathy offers to play video games, he says no because she doesn’t know how to play. She hears a knock on the door and sees all of her friends at the door who were supposed to be a Blake’s party at her door and lets them in. Back at Blake’s party, Brenda gets more upset because everyone is late to the party but the planner says they might be stuck in traffic at Halloween, despite it being 9:15 pm, when they check the E-vite, she sees that everyone has cancelled on her. Blake then shows her that she everyone went to Jayden’s party and Brenda gets angry and calls Kathy to confront her. At Jayden’s party, Kathy is happy that Jayden is having fun but she receives a call from Brenda and she answers it when she answers it, she is met with an upset Brenda, who immediately starts assuming that Kathy was the reason people didn’t go to Blake’s party, but Kathy denies it saying that they came on their own. Brenda asks Kathy to tell everyone to come to Blake’s party and her and Jayden are invited, but Kathy refuses, wanting Brenda to experience the same thing as she made Jayden feel and hangs up, but after she hangs up, she sees Jayden was watching her and she asks if he was there the whole time, but he doesn’t answer and she realizes what she did. At Blake’s party, Brenda asks Blake if he wants to see his cake, but he says no and walks away. Brenda tries to get him to blow out his candles, but he ignores her and keeps walking to his room but then they hear a knock and when they answer it, it is Kathy and Jayden and the rest of the people . Brenda thanks Kathy for coming and Kathy says that parents differences, but Brenda says it shouldn’t stop kids from hanging out and finally understands it and invites Kathy inside.
