PLOT[]
A nerdy girl Monica wakes up from a bad dream, in which several other students are laughing at her pimpled face while she is trying to publicly speak in a school classroom. Monica is cared for by her supportive older sister Lizzy, who tells her not to worry too much about the pimples on her face and just have more self-confidence. Monica soon attends her first day of high school and immediately has a crush on popular boy Laiken, whose locker is also next to Monica's as well. Laiken is then greeted by popular girl Rachel, who is revealed to be Laiken's long-time girlfriend. After Laiken introduces Rachel to Monica, Laiken leaves and Rachel immediately notices that Monica has a crush on Laiken just by analyzing her body language. Out of jealousy, Rachel begins to bully and harass Monica by insulting her pimpled face and saying that someone like her never has a chance of "stealing Laiken" to begin with.
Once in class, Monica is joined by Laiken, Rachel, and many other students. Rachel publicly speaks in front of the entire class, arrogantly explaining why she would make a good class president. When Monica's turn comes up, she loses the confidence to speak in front of the entire class, and as a result, Rachel openly mocks Monica for her lack of self-confidence in front of the entire class as all of the other students begin laughing at Monica too. Meanwhile, both the teacher and Laiken tell Rachel to stop being a bully, but Rachel continues to harass Monica even later in the school cafeteria, in the presence of many other students who also join her against Monica too.
Monica later comes home, sobbing to Lizzy about how Rachel has been bullying her, and how most other students have been laughing along with Rachel too, and that the only people who actually defended Monica are her crush Laiken and a couple others in particular. Lizzy then spends some quality time with Monica, and then they notice Rachel outside of school on one day, as Rachel continues to insult Monica then as well. Lizzy stands up to Rachel and tells her that, unlike Rachel herself, Monica doesn't need to boost her self-esteem by bullying other people all the time. Rachel then scoffs at Lizzy and walks away.
Lizzy soon gives Monica "self-confidence pills", and then Monica instantly becomes more popular around the school, as she gains the self-confidence to speak in public (despite her pimpled face), win Laiken over, retaliate against Rachel whenever she bullies Monica, and become more well-liked by many other students in the school in general. Monica soon auditions for theater performance, and notices that the "self-confidence pills" that Lizzy previously gave her ran out. Monica is then told that those pills are merely a placebo, as Monica soon goes home and angrily confronts Lizzy about how Lizzy previously lied to her about how helpful those pills were. Lizzy then apologizes for previously doing this to Monica, but still reassures Monica that her recent self-confidence came from within and not from the pills that she previously took.
Monica then gains the self-confidence to perform well in her upcoming theater performance, as a jealous Rachel tells Monica that Monica's "hideously pepperoni-filled face" is not going to attract everybody from the audience. Monica then deliberately performs even better in front of the audience, who all give her very high praise, as Monica sarcastically tells Rachel that she underestimated Monica. Rachel then laughs and tells Monica that Monica still not pretty enough to have a date for homecoming, after which Laiken immediately breaks up with Rachel after realizing how much of a bully she really is, in favor of dating Monica instead. A humiliated Rachel then runs off in disgust, while all the other students including Monica and Laiken laugh at her for good.
Monica then gets ready at home the next day to dress up for the upcoming school's homecoming, and thanks Lizzy for helping her with her self-confidence throughout the time as well.
