Son Refuses To Spend Time With Family on Holidays, He Instantly Regrets It is a Dhar Mann video that was uploaded on November 24, 2020.

Plot[]

On Thanksgiving Day, a teenage boy named Cameron is so obsessed with playing video games that whenever his parents ask him if he wants to spend time with them, he sees it as a big deal and yells at them. He invites his friend, Blake, over, who is more than happy to join Cameron's parents in preparing for Thanksgiving, but Cameron wants him to play video games with him instead.

At dinner, Cameron wants to eat while playing his game, but his parents insist on him staying. Cameron tries to get Blake to join him, but Blake wants him to stay and says that they can always play after eating. After complaining that being away from his game will mess up his stats, Cameron retorts that it's not like Blake is spending Thanksgiving with his own family. At this, Blake begins to cry and says that he wishes he could, but he can't.

He then explains that the year before, like Cameron, he was also obsessed with playing video games and got angry at his parents whenever they asked to be with him on Thanksgiving. A few days later, his parents went to go visit his grandmother, and Blake was so busy that he did not say goodbye. Shortly afterward, a police officer showed up at the door and told Blake that his parents were killed in a car accident.

Touched by Blake's story, Cameron apologizes to his parents for ignoring them and sits down to eat. Cameron asks his parents if they can forgive him, and they eventually do. He also asks Blake if he wants to spend the night, and Blake gladly accepts while also making good on his promise that he and Cameron will both play video games after they eat.

Moral[]

"Don't take the time you have with your family for granted."

Main Characters[]

Supporting/Minor Characters[]

  • Tricia Rascoe as Blake's Mom
  • Stephen Spear as Blake's Dad

Trivia[]

  • Blake losing both of his parents in a car accident is similar to how the Curtis brothers lose theirs in The Outsiders. It is not said how they died in both the novel and this episode. In the film adaptation, their parents' car is shown getting hit by a train at a railroad crossing in Ponyboy's dream, after presumably getting stuck on the tracks.
